There are Barbeque restaurants in Bangalore and there are Microbreweries. Strangely, no one thought of putting craft beer and barbeque under one roof (obvious no-brainer) until… The Brew and Barbeque ripped Bangalore’s culinary box apart by bringing grills and pitchers together on their tables (they actually have mini grills right there on the tables).
Beer Drinking Needs Space
Beer doesn’t make you fat! It makes you lean (against tables and walls) and there is enough space for all your tipsy antics here. The variety of brews on offer are kept simple – Lager, Wheat, and Red Ale (lighter to darker brews respectively). That is perfect as the only effort I’m willing to make at a watering hole is to pick up the glass; picking from a long confusing list isn’t my mug of beer.
Lapping up Malai
The only time to eat diet food is while you’re waiting for your meat to cook. I tried the Tandoori chicken dabbed with generous amounts of malai that washed down perfectly with the Red Ale. Beside succulent barbecued chicken, lamb and seafood, resident Chef Kumud Rai has a particular talent for paneer dishes. The range of paneer starters and mains made my vegetarian friend’s boozy grin even wider.
Easy to get to in spite of crazy traffic. Great place to have long beer binges with a large group. Wide open spaces (even in the cigarette zone) and music at just the right volume. Some desserts need to be reconsidered, but the Choco Lava Cake was perfect.
