A bar is easy to find. There are at least a dozen bars to choose from — as the BEL Road stretch is known to local residents — and perhaps holds another dozen restaurants with smaller bars.
Owner and Partner at Hammered Exchange, Likith Shetty tells us all about his brand new warehouse bar, with lofty ceilings and an industrial feel, and a solid concept, that keeps bar service fresh.
“In this bar, drink prices fluctuate according to the market prices at the bar, giving its thirsty customers a chance to trade, and find the best deal on a night out.”
How does it work?
Hammered Exchange works on simple economics of demand and supply, that has customers trading on booze.
“The bar runs itself, managed by software as drink prices swing up and down according to supply and demand,”says the owner.
How do you win?
With an LED screen running fluctuating prices, as the night goes on every customer roots for a crash, that is to buy drinks at rock bottom prices. For instance your goal maybe to get tequila shots before they spiral out of control or the prices of gin are lower than vodka, and so you order accordingly.
In a win-win scenario, prices climb which means people are buying a lot at the bar, triggering a ‘market crash’ that results in cheap booze to everyone.
How to play the game?
Download the Hammered Bar App to keep track of prices anywhere you are, home or work.
You can check your app for dips in prices but in case you are busy dancing, or at a table getting chatted up, the staff is trained to whisper alerts in your ear. The more you buy, the better the chances of a market crash, and a well priced bender, says Shetty
Our desi inspired nibbles have great reviews. We recommend the Rainbow Sliders, which are colourful cocktail burgers, or the Naan Pizza and Chicken Sukha Gol Gappas. We also serve in house cocktails, like our LIIT, that is made to perfection and definitely worth a round.
Commercial, techo and underground beats bring people to the dance floor. Also, the in house DJ blasts seven days a week with the occasional guest DJs like Ivan, Vaachan and more on special nights.
A place where reservations are unheard of, designed to be a low key warehouse bar, both competent and sophisticated with bartender banter that offers a wine list, signature cocktails, and pours out a line of shots for a cluster of happy city dwellers in a great neighbourhood, where you can settle in for a few hours with great company. With affordable drinks and lowbrow comfort food, this is a themed bar straddling the line between young and satirical, where we enjoyed the not so-grown up vibe.
