Bangalore, to me, is that place with the development of a city and the culture of a village. Here, I see colleges churning out some highly intelligent and competent individuals and sending them off to the headquarters in India of the world’s biggest IT firms, in Bangalore itself. These individuals, then, hit the cool bars and hangouts in the city and finally come home to a typical welcoming little bungalow, a warm meal and a grandmother full of Forklore from her native village.
Well, an IT professional turned home chef, decided to bring together the two facets of the city and that’s why we’re so excited about our latest partner on board – Forklore Bistro.
What We Love About It
It’s a typical Bangalore villa with the feel of a charming Mediterranean bistro, complete with the blackboard outside reading the specials. The indoors have warm dining spaces for families with windows and balconies for plenty of sunlight to stream in. But we particularly love the homely pies with the perfect light, buttery, puff pastry base and the even more homely handmade pasta such as the Shrimp Scampi or the House Special Fettucine. We also love the casual confidence with which the queen of the kitchen plays with flavours and serves you dishes like sweet potato fries, lamb lettuce cups and pan fried stuffed calamari (with tomatoes, zucchini and coconut). By the time you’ve polished off the Holly Berries dessert, which is layers of mulberry and raspberry on a vanilla cheesecake, or the more heady Monk in the Middle, a deconstructed mix of coffee mousse, coffee cake spiked with Old Monk, walnut crumble and chocolate sauce, you’re going to be crazier about it than we are.
