Thai cuisine somehow manages to induce random cravings in me from time to time. If you are a Thai food lover, you will understand what I mean. There’s something very addictive and memorable about the way Thai food is cooked – so light, yet aromatic and spicy. When the craving strikes, you just have to have some Thai joy! Here are some great spots in Bangalore for authentic Thai cuisine.
5. Ginger Tiger, Nagavara
This Chinese/Pan Asian restaurant has a good selection of Thai dishes on the menu. The dimly light ambience in their outdoor dining area makes for an interesting setting. For Thai foodies, there is Phuket street-style and Gai Pad chicken for starters, and authentic curries like Chilli, and Basil and Penang Style Red curry for the main course. The unlimited stir fry section makes this a value for money experience.
4. Republic of Noodles – The Lemon Tree Hotel, Electronic City
The Lemon Tree Hotel has a cool luxury dining vibe that complements their selection of pan-Asian cuisine. Along with the extensive Chinese food, there is a great selection of Singaporean, Malay and Thai dishes. Try the Thai grilled chicken, or corn and green scallion fritters in ginger plum sauce for starters. The Pla Rad Pik Thai, Tom Kha Gai and the Bangkok style Phad Thai noodles all show that this place is the real deal when it comes to authentic Thai cuisine.
3. Fujian on 24th, JP Nagar
The Fujian boasts a pleasant, rustic vibe, especially in their open dining area which overlooks green leafy surroundings. As for the food, there is a special Thai fish cake salad that is well worth a try. The veggie stir fry and prawns go really well with Thai Nam Phrik sauce. Also don’t miss their flavourful Pad Thai noodles!
2. Nasi and Mee, Koramangala
If you want a comfortable casual dining experience with authentic Thai food and some wine, Nasi and Mee is a great choice. The menu highlights include fragrant jasmine rice from Thailand, the usual assortment of Pad Thais, massaman, and red and green curries. There are even some great authentic Thai and Malay desserts to complete that South Asian experience.
1. Benjarong, Ulsoor
The muted golden ambience and genuine Thai décor and furnishings provide an “authentic Thai” feel to the whole place. The menu is exclusively Thai, from the selection of beverages all the way to main course and dessert. Their Lava Grill Platter with Raw Papaya Salad will satisfy your Thai cravings! They also have great Tom Yum and Tom Kha soups on offer, with prawn and chicken choices. The fluffy Thai omelette is not something you will find in other pan-Asian restaurant. It’s a relief that they have a very detailed menu, since all the dishes are in their authentic Thai names!
