From Russia With Love
My affinity towards exotic cuisines and fascination with their culinary cultures, has often led me to the most unexpectedly outlandish restaurants. That is why my visit to Tippler was something I was looking forward to. Especially because I haven’t ventured much into the Russian gastronomical world and was delighted to try a new cuisine altogether.
‘Tippler on the Roof’ is a Russian themed resto-bar that is known for its vivacious and pulsating nightlife. Of course, Russians are boisterous and every meal is a celebration for them. I got a true Russian vibe from the Red and Blue color scheme that was a key part of the deco and the incredible energy that was floating through the place. Though, I have to hand it over to them because the alfresco roof helped with the much-needed deep breathers. The place was totally packed! I happened to visit this place on Monday which is the busiest day there. However, I experienced Tippler in its element.
Mondays at Tippler are a loud affair, I’m told. In my 3 hours at Tippler, I can’t help but concur; everyone around me gradually letting loose and making use of the slashed prices on alcohol. I notice the crowd swaying from peaceful imbibing sessions to puffing on hookahs followed by frenzied dancing, shaking the monday blues off on blaring tunes.
The only reason you may want to visit Tippler on any other day is because you’d walk into an extremely full house on a Monday. But the heavily discounted booze and food definitely make up for the overrun, justifying the insanity that goes down on a typical Monday at Tippler.
Owing to my intrigue with foreign cuisines, I was too tempted to try out the Russian cuisine and I did. The Chicken and Pork Pelmeni was a little understated for my Indian palate. After this, I decided to try something more globally famed. We ordered chicken wings which were nothing to write home about – standard and simple. For mains, we went for the TOTR special Tenderloin Burger and the Piri piri Roasted Chicken – a filling meal that left us repleted. In the end, our stomachs were satiated and pockets, still relatively full!
To experience Tippler in all its glory, visit for a quiet lunch or even in the evenings to indulge in a culinary journey to Russia and mostly tipple away into the night! The reasonable food and alcohol complete with a vibrant ambiance, is a good reason to drop by at this bustling rooftop.
