I fancy myself a budding chef (blame it on MasterChef episodes watched back-to-back). Honestly though, kebabs have left me stumped time and again. It isn’t the easiest dish to make, and more often than not, I end up with dried up pieces of meat with plenty of flavour but no juiciness. Over the years, my kebab cravings have taken me to many restaurants in Mumbai on an endless quest for the perfectly seasoned and cooked melt-in-the-mouth kebab – here are the spots my taste buds recommend.
Although Sarvi is a simple restaurant, it is renowned all over Mumbai for its delicious kebabs. This restaurant was established about 90 years ago, and lots of foodies are attracted to this place not for its ambiance, but for its delectable Mughlai cuisine. The beef kebabs here are lightly seasoned with spices, while the seekh kebabs are soft and oh-so-juicy. Roll these kebabs in a roti and take a bite – that is what the pros do!

4. Nice Fast Food Corner
Founded in 1969, Nice Fast Food Corner has been serving tasty Mughlai cuisine for almost five decades now. This is actually a fast food corner, and there is no seating available. However, if kebabs are your soulmate, you won’t mind standing around. Try the succulent Khiri Kebab, which is not only perfectly seasoned, but also very tender. The Mutton Seekh Kebab is another one that you must try.

3. Delhi Darbar
Delhi Darbar is one of the most popular restaurants in Mumbai for North Indian and Mughlai cuisine. Even though it is famous for its yummy phirni and biryani bursting with flavors, their kebabs are also something to write home about. Lamb lovers must try the Mutton Seekh Kebab and Boti Kebab, while chicken lovers can choose between Tangdi Kebab and Chicken Seekh Kebab. No matter what you order, the meat is tender and always cooked perfectly.

2. Kakori House
Although a small restaurant, Kakori House is well-known for its melt-in-the-mouth kebabs all over Mumbai. Two of their kebabs that you must try are the herb laden Galawati and the house specialty Kakori Kebabs. When you want a restaurant that offers you a wide range of kebabs, Kakori House is the perfect place for you. Some popular options include Mutton Shami Kebab, Murgh Golmirch Kebab, Mutton Barrah Lazeez, and Murgh Khusk Seekh Kebab.

1. Peshawri, ITC Maratha
Located near the International Airport in Mumbai, Peshawri is known for its mouth-watering Mughlai and North Indian cuisine. When you are here, try their perfectly cooked ‘Raan’, which is a whole leg of goat, marinated in spices that is slow cooked in a tandoor grill. Kebab lovers will be overwhelmed by the variety offered here, choose between the classic Seekh Kebab and the house specialty Peshawri Kebab. If you do not like lamb, try one of their chicken based kebabs like Kadak Seekh, Kastoori Kebab and Reshmi Kebab. Considering it is inside ITC, the prices are quite high, but the quality of meat and its preparation is unparalleled.
