What Is BandCamp?
Camping has been a way of leaving behind the urban pace and grime to reconnect with nature and get back to life for a while. Who needs that more than the people of a city that never sleeps? And that’s why, White Collar Hippie found a campsite at Uttan, where people can explore, listen to live music, watch open-air movie screenings, take workshops, enjoy fires and barbecues and retire to their tents at the end of a long, fulfilling day. Aren’t they the nicest?
Okay, Let’s Rewind A Bit. What’s White Collar Hippie, Again?
Founded by partners, Vikrant Chheda and Sachin Parekh, this travel company was established, in July 2011, with the vision of inspiring people to travel rather than vacation. Today, it’s about bringing you incredible outdoor and off beat travel experiences. Some of their really remarkable packages are those of Hampi and SulaFest. What you’re signing up for each time is something that surprises, humbles and transforms you, while reminding what travel has been all about since time immemorial. They craft, in the true sense of it, journeys and not holidays. Don’t cha wish your travel agent was fun like them? Don’t cha?
That’s All Fine, But Uttan?
Located off the Gorai beach, Uttan is a coastal town home to the fishing community of Kolis. The verdant forest cover and the azure seascape make for a real respite. Meanwhile, they have collaborated with the local fishermen so they can provide you with some fresh barbecue, while looking back at a sky full of stars. Their tents are pitched in such a way, that you enjoy the calm of nature and your privacy (yes you can, even at a bustling campsite). They provide you with your camping essentials, a sleeping bag and lantern. The campsite is equipped with well functioning modern restrooms and open-roof showers. It has huge grounds and they’ve also added hammocks, books, and games to ensure that there is something for everyone.
And What’s Tuning Fork Got To Do With It?
This weekend, your favourite live music venue from Khar, Tuning Fork will be curating the gig at BandCamp. They’re choosing some of their favourites to create the live music that’s going to be filling your outdoors. And this time around, they’ve chosen Bryan Ernest and Abeineth. Bryan Ernest started out at the age of 10 by picking up the violin and moved on to the guitar at about 15. He picked up the basics of keys, drums and flute along the way. Inspired by John Mayer, he is currently focusing on songwriting and guitar techniques. Abhineet Chandra (Abeineth), who started experimenting with and composing guitar instrumentals from a young age, began writing songs regularly when he was 19 and has been doing so ever since. He writes music full-time now and plays shows on the live music circuit. He has released a Demo tape, produced by himself, and is reaching out as a Solo artist by the stage name Abeineth.
When you encounter a camp and a music festival up, close & person, all rolled into one? You don’t sit back wondering if this is the one for you. No, you go get it!
